Mystic Aquarium

Hurricane Isabel is hovering off the coast, and some of the weather effects from it are beginning to trickle in.  Saturday was dreary, cloudy and drizzled most of the day, but the temperature was superb for sightseeing and so Jim and I decided to head over to Mystic and look around the old neighborhoods.  This little village is a "must" to visit if you make it up this way.  Settled in 1654, it's chock full of charm and the aroma's permeating the air are incredible!

We had taken the monster lens along, and while we decided to wait on visiting Mystic Seaport, we thought we'd chance the aquarium and hoped our pictures would turn out in the dreary light.  For the most part they turned out beautifully, albeit a bit grainy, as we had to set the film speed to 800 ISO as we had no flash or tripod.  After touring the entire aquarium and snapping a gazillion shots, would you believe I accidentally deleted them ALL???  DOH!  So we went back in and took a few more shots, but most were lost thanks to my idiocy.  Enjoy!

Oh... the whale the girls are feeding in the first couple of shots is a Beluga whale.  The lighter colored seal looks to be blind, cataracts?  The sea lions were my absolute favorite as they were incredibly entertaining!  Jim captured a gorgeous shot of the lily below that was sharing the pond with the ducks.
